James' visit - Day 2

We slept in and went to Wendy's for lunch. Then, we went to the square. I love this square. The antler arches make it very unique.

Then, we headed towards Yellowstone. Along the road, there were some more funny road signs. I didn't get a shot of the first one, but I believe it said something to the effect of :

"Wildlife Ahead"

We entered Yellowstone through the South Entrance and stopped at West Thumb Geyser Basin with Yellowstone Lake as a backdrop:

Then, we headed towards Cody, Wy. A little ways past the lake, after we had turned on the East Entrance Rd, we spotted a grizzly bear next to the road. James had never seen a grizzly before!

Once we exited the park, it took about an hour and a half or so to get to Cody. We stopped at

for a late lunch/early dinner. We were starved and it tasted great!

Then, we went to check into our cabin at Buffalo Bill Village on Main St. in Cody. It was very plain but cozy cabin:

Then, we headed to the Cody Rodeo which takes place every single night during the summer.

This little fella below is only 5 years old, and he rode a steer - didn't quite make it the 6 seconds (for his age bracket) but it was fun to watch him try.

James' visit - Day 1

I left Mammoth at 4:45 a.m. There was a black bear along the road near Tower Falls, but there wasn't enough daylight to get a good picture. I reached the South entrance of the park at 7:16 a.m. Just outside the park, the signs below were along the side of the road. I thought they were funny, so I turned around to snap pictures of them!

Then I entered into Grand Teton National Park, and caught a glimpse of the Tetons and Jackson Lake:

I arrived at Jackson Airport around 9:00 or so. I had to wait for an hour and a half for his flight to arrive, but I didn't mind because I could watch planes taking off and landing with the Tetons as a backdrop. James' flight arrived around 10:20:

I was so glad to see him! We went to Jackson and checked into The Painted Buffalo hotel. Then, we got lunch at Mountain High Pizzia Pie. After shopping, we went to Grand Teton National Park.

We went back to the hotel and I got to watch t.v. for the first time in 2 1/2 months!!!!

Cascade Lake Hike

We switched to the four day work week, so I now have an extra day off per week. I took advantage of that by going on a guided hike with the employee recreation department. We've had quite a bit of rain in the past week, and this trail was muddy. Very muddy. Can't say that it was all that enjoyable, but it did have some good views of Cascade Lake and the mountains from Observation Point where we had lunch:
